Our Founder & CEO
Future Cain is an international speaker, human sustainability strategist, culture facilitator, ombud, and Founder & CEO of Future of SEL. With more than two decades of experience spanning leadership, mental health and wellness, education, workforce development, and organizational culture, she works at the intersection of human behavior and human systems.
Future leads with a vision that serves as the North Star for our mission. Like Polaris, Future's company acts as a dependable guide for navigating Social and Emotional Leadership (SEL) and workplace and employee wellness.
She studies the conditions that help people, communities, workplaces, and institutions thrive and the factors that cause them to struggle, disconnect, or break down. Her work explores leadership, connection, communication, well-being, workforce readiness, and the future of human sustainability in a rapidly changing world.
With over 20 years of leadership experience spanning nonprofit organizations, the private behavioral sector, early childhood education, K-12 schools, higher education, and business, Future has developed a dynamic and versatile approach to leadership. She holds a Master of Arts in Multi-Categorical Special Education, Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and Administration and Curriculum and Instruction Licenses.
A published writer and international speaker, Future’s written work has focused on social emotional intelligence, leadership, wellness, and belonging. Her insights have been featured in Forbes, Harvard Business Review, and The New York Times.
As a devoted mother of two and passionate mental health advocate, Future exemplifies the power of self-awareness as the cornerstone of transformative leadership, holistic wellness, and uplifting humanity. Guided by her empowering mantra, "Fill your bucket with joy"™, she inspires individuals to lead boldly, live intentionally, and embrace a boundless capacity for love and impact.
Our Story
Future of SEL is a grassroots company that uniquely serves as its own proof-of-concept. We focus on human sustainability strategy, cultural facilitation, and Social and Emotional Leadership (SEL). It was founded on the belief that sustainable leadership begins with understanding people.
Founder & CEO Future Cain brought her vision to life by doing what she does best: connecting with and caring for the well-being of other people.
Today, that mission has expanded into Human Sustainability, helping individuals, leaders, and organizations understand how humans can sustainably function, perform, adapt, and remain well in an increasingly complex world.
We help organization, leaders, and employees explore the intersection of leadership, behavior, well-being, neuroscience, culture, and organizational systems that adapt to ever-changing technology and help create healthier and more sustainable futures.
All of us had previously endured the draining experience of working for employers who've failed to invest in Social and Emotional Leadership as a critical part of Workforce Development.
So we built this company - because we need it and we know you do, too.
